Love Actually

I'm tired. Exhausted really. I got up this morning because my boss just got a 3 month old foster child and she was bringing him into work. So I had to be there at 8 am to see him. Skylar is his name and he is quite adorable.

I am very excited the Olympics start tonight, but that probably also means that I won't be getting much homework done over the next few weeks. So far this semester has flown by. We're already been in school for 5 weeks. My classes are going well and they all seem to be quite interesting.

I have been enjoying leading the Cru team. It takes a lot of time, but the fun had along the way is definitely worth it. And I know the Lord is teaching me some incredible things along the way.

Tomorrow should be a fun day because it's Jessica's birthday. She'll be 22 and old. We're also going to try and go skating tomorrow afternoon, hopefully it won't be too cold or snowy.

I am super excited for next weekend. Tim and I are going to Baudette to my Grandma's cabin and my dad and sister and brother-in-law are coming up from the Cities. I haven't seen my nieces in like 2 months and it's been driving me nuts. Jaden is probably bigger than Kaylee and Kaylee is probably onto trying her own shoes. They both just grow up too fast.

The past few weeks the Lord has really been teaching me about trusting in him and relying on his Faithfulness. He has come through in every area of my life that was causing me stress. It's good to be loved.

Love to all this next week!

Done with the first week so far. It kind of flew by, but probably more because I don't have class on friday, so it was only a three day week. We also started back up with cru again. It is an entirely different feeling to be behind the scenes of everything instead of just being a participant. I did like it though and it seemed to go fine. I also had my first cru team meeting. Success in that as well. We were very productive. It is hard leading a team though that needs so much structure because you are depended upon for every meeting, but at the same time wanting to be led by God. A balance we are all trying to figure out now.

My christmas break was fun, but fast and seemed more like work than rest. Tim and I are now down to less than five months. It's very exciting to be thinking about, but also a lot of work needs to be done before then. On wednesday we start our counseling. This makes me kind of nervous, but also it just means more planning for the future. So hopefully it will just make us more prepared.

Tonight I watched the gophers clobber the sioux. It was very nice. And then I played pictionary with the boys. They are a lot of fun to hang out with.

Alia started working with me. That makes time fly by at work because we always find some interesting things to talk about.

Only 15 more weeks to go.

Woohoo finally done with the semester. Just got done with my critique for jewelry and starting to clean up my room so I can move everything down to my new room. The weather has kind of been sucky lately and will probably be for the rest of the week, so I hope everyone can get home safely for Christmas break.

On Monday I went out to celebrate my 22nd birthday and at the end of the night I ended up with Pepe the Giraffe. Which I used to scare my roommate with the next day. That was fun. I also got new markers, they're called Pibsqueaks. They're about five inches long, including the cap. Those are a lot of fun.

I also get to eat dinner tonight with the new SLT team. Next semester is going to be so much fun (and work). I don't really want to start thinking about it, but I have to because there is so much that needs to be done before then and during then. And so many decisions that need to be made.

This week has made me realize that no matter how much I want or think I need something to happen--I am not in control. God has been on me for that for a while, but usually I realize it and then do it all over again. I am the definition of stupid. But considering all that needed to be done and all the stress that I told myself I didn't have--he has come through and given me all that I need.

I also got a nice set of music, but that must remain anonymous because if the legality of it all.

Tomorrow morning I am meeting with all of the Cru staff to discuss options for next semester. I'm kind of nervous because there are six of them and one of me. And I'm not really sure what they'll think of my ideas. But tomorrow night should be fun. Amy is graduating this Friday so we're going over to her apartment to celebrate and have baked potatoes. And then a bunch of people are going bowling just for fun. Why would anyone ever want to leave college. Outside of the you get paid instead of paying money part it really is a good deal and so much fun.

Then hopefully by Friday, after working for a little bit, I'll be in a car driving (riding) home. Woohoo!

And just because I am having a hard time deciding. Based on name alone should I take Visual Persuasion or Concepts of Art next semester?

Well instead of getting going on that studying I think updating my blog is much more important. So tomorrow is the last day of class and I really really want to be done. Not to mention that I have to end the wonderful fall semester with ART HISTORY. A horrible class. But it gets better because then the formal is tomorrow night. And I do love to get my groove on.

I will admit that compared to previous semesters I am completely stressless. There are a few things that are making me think, but I think my apathy has overtaken me and life just seems okay in general. It could also be that my degree won't influence my future career in too many ways. Or it could be that I saw Rent over Thanksgiving and there are more important things in life than school. I've gotten to enjoy some time with friends recently though and that has been really nice.

I will admit (wow that is a really common phrase) that I haven't been enjoying as much quiet time with the Lord as I should be. It seems most the time that I am reading the bible it is to better understand what outside sources are telling me about the bible. (aka, we're still onto that you can't lead because you're a woman thing.) But I think what bothers me worse is the numerous other things that bother me and I do nothing about. I just leave it to someone else. Someone challenged me a while back to change things because otherwise things are just going to be worse for everyone else behind you. This has more to do with school and less to do with the church, but it works in either setting.

Right now I am enjoying vanilla yogurt, raisens, and honey nut cheerios and it is delicious. And don't knock it until you've tried it. Another positive is that casey is back in town at least on Fridays so we actually get to have discipleship in December. I do miss those times.

Oh and on Saturday night we went and saw Just Friends, quite an entertaining movie about how to move past the "friendszone" and into the optional date category. Cru last night was fun. I enjoyed the christmas carol skit and the songs were fun to sing. I do enjoy myself a good Christmas carol every once in a while. We also had a quick SLT meeting and that got me excited (and scared) about next semester.

And fun time tonight because I'm going to watch America's Next Top Model finale, not because I can't get enough of Tyra, but more because one of the final three is from Grand Forks and goes to UND. Well this has certainly been enough rambling on for now.

So I skipped drawing this morning so I could work on my huge paper (10-15 pager) that's due tomorrow because I didn't get as far as I would have liked over the weekend. I also skipped because I'm not really sure where it's at (either the museum or the hughes) and I don't want to walk all over campus with my pad of paper on a day like today. Btw, I'm writing my paper on Facebook and I've already visited the site about five times this morning, just looking to procrastinate. And now I'm updating my blog because well it's something else to do besides write my paper. I do have to go to jewelry this afternoon though because we have two rings due a week from Wednesday and I'm maybe half-way done with the first.

But of course everyone who was in the area knows the weather was horrible as it is everytime a large number of college students are leaving and returning to school. But in a short rant we left Sioux Falls at 2 and returned to Grand Forks at 11, with a 1.5 hour break in Fargo. The trip should have taken no more than 4.5 hours. But ice and really low visibility does not help that out.

But because of the weather I didn't get to meet my friend Casey, who lives in San Diego, in Fargo. She just happened to be in town for Thanksgiving because she was visiting her grandparents and sister at college.

But I should be happy to get back in one piece. But that does mean that I was focusing on the road and doing whatever I could to help out Tim instead of doing my homework. So back to my paper because it's just the beginning of the end. And I'm so excited to only have three weeks of school left.

On a sidenote: I've made fun of Michael Buble simply for his name for quite a while, but I am actually listening to his stuff now and he's really good. A mix between Harry Conick Jr and Frank Sinatra. Highly recommended.
